Experience
With over eight years of professional experience as an academic tutor beginning back in 2008, when I was asked to stay on as an instructor for one of the largest Test Prep Companies in the Country , I've provided one-on-one and group tutoring for a wide range of students from as early as the sixth grade to those who are well into their postgraduate studies. For the past three years I have found myself working most closely with those students who find themselves frustrated and struggling academically due to due to some form of learning disability. In the past I had always focused on all science related subjects (such as inorganic and organic chemistry, physics, biology, Psychology, genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology, Environmental Science etc.) as well as all levels of mathematics as well as History and test preparation ranging from the NYS regents exams, to the SAT, AP exams, MCAT as well as the ASVAB all Also, I have experience as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for an both Genetics as well as 400 level behavioral Biology courses, as well as Organic Chemistry. I am also currently a member of the regional faculty for the American Heart Association where I serve as an Instructor for both BLS as well as Advanced Cardiac Life Support along with Tactical Combat Casualty Care and a variety of first responder courses with a focus on Hazmat response and dealing with Mass Casaulty Incidents at both the local, state and federal level. I have grown to develop a true passion for tutoring, I have found that there is no greater feeling than being able to watch as a student not only begins to improve their grades but at the same time the massive effect those same improvements have on their own self-confidence,. From my experience as a tutor, my students do a wonderful job of asking inquisitive questions that challenge my knowledge, facilitating not only their understanding of a concept or problem, but also my growth as an effective and empathetic tutor. As a tutor, I'm constantly looking beyond just the few hours I may spend with a student; instead, I focus on the big picture of how I may best facilitate not just their academic preparation, but encourage them to pursue knowledge for its own sake--becoming a tutor and mentor during their academic endeavors.
